
Today marks the 8th anniversary of this blog (and the eruption of Chile’s Chaitén, which started this whole thing)! So many volcanoes and eruptions over the years. Thank you to all you readers who come back over and over to read about the fiery volcanic events on Earth (and beyond). Some updates from this past week: New Zealand White Island, off the northern coast of New Zealand in the Bay of Plenty, had a small explosive eruption on the evening of April 27. This was the first eruption at White Island since October 2013 and the explosion carved a new crater inside the larger crater area of the volcano.
