Plane take-off aborted for couple to visit dying grandson
A pilot aborted a take-off at Manchester Airport to allow an elderly couple off the plane to visit their dying grandson in hospital. The pair were due to fly to Australia when they received a text message about their relative's condition. The flight then turned around so the couple could rush to his bedside and see him before he died that night. Bradford travel agent Becky Stephenson said the 30 March incident was "very unusual". "I've been in the travel business for 25 years and never heard of this happening," she said.
